Premiere: Jermango's Dreams are becoming lucid and they are a pretty good place to chill
You're boy Jermango Dreaming has today dropped his second and biggest single ‘Modern Day Living,’ a soulful psych-pop track that is so intoxicating it feels as though you are going to a party, remembering your childhood and falling in love all at once. Relatively new to the scene, Jermango Dreaming has already made waves and supported acts such as Tropical Strength (members from the Pinheads), Los Tones and Bus Vipers.
'Modern Day Living stems from a nostalgic place; more specifically, the transition from teenage-hood into the adult world and the complicated nature of the emotions that accompany this significant personal change.
Modern Day Living touches on themes of love, lust, friendship and adventure, while at its core reminding its listeners of the complexity of departing adolescence on one’s own.
Jermango Dreaming is the solo project of Jermaine Sakr, Co-owner of Sydney events collective and artist run label ‘Yeah Nah Yeah’ alongside the members of SCK CHX & King Colour. His release is the second in a line of debut releases from the label in 2017. After months of exploration of both styles and all instruments he could get his hands on Jermango Dreaming found comfort in a Juno 60 which provides an ambient bass to his music.
‘Although we may have love and support from people around us, Modern Day Living reflects on being alone and getting by on your own. At the end of the day it's only you operating that big ol’ brain of yours.’ It has a bass line takes control of your hips and thrusts them back and fourth while his low sultry voice enters your ears, makes it’s way down towards your heart and finds it's resting spot in your pants. It’s simply electric.”
Modern Day Living was mixed and tracked by Josh Dives at Parliament studios in Leichhardt.
