Like A Local: Amsterdam

Siep from Amsterdam band Melonhead put together a playlist of sounds that inspire the music coming from his home city

Melonhead :

Can you tell us a bit about the music scene in the Netherlands? What is the vibe? Is it supportive?

The music scene is very big but everybody knows each other. If you are studying music at an a acadamy like Herman Brood Acadamy or Rock Acadamy, you will soon expand your network fast. The Conservatory is also a big influence. The vibe is supportive but you soon need a record deal or a good management to help you get to the top. That's just how it goes.

If you could be doing music anywhere else in the world right now. Where would it be?

If I would go elsewhere it would be Germany because our music fits better there - more opportunities. For the bigger picture, I would say Australia or the USA, that's because of the musical influences I listen to now.

Three favourite songs/artists right now?

Shame- Concrete

Mozes and the Firstborn - Sad Supermarket Song

Husk - Black Foxxes

You win 10k right now. What would you spend it on?

I would use the 10k to set up Melonfest 4, to celebrate our upcoming full-length record.
